Another weekend problem

95 speedster and having problems with drivers side. Today I noticed that the intake had rattled loose so I replaced the gasket and tightened everything down. Went out on the lake and wasnt getting the thrust I should from that side. Max speed was 35. I turned the motors off and went back and checked if anything got caught and stuck my hand in the jet and moved he impeller a little. When I started off again the boat had the trust and I was able to hit 45. I know I need a wear ring but would that be the cause of this problem? This is the first time it's done it.

Worn or bad wear ring(s) would definitely cause what you are experiencing. I had one go south yesterday, speed slowed about 15mph, and a definite loss of out of the hole power. I would go ahead and replace both wear rings.
