My 2001 GS had a bad wear ring when I bought it so I replaced it then drove it for about an hour and the new wear ring failed so then I replaced it again thinking maybe it sucked up a rock. This weekend I drove it for maybe half an hour and the wear ring failed again. I dont know why its failing, I checked the prop and it looks good and the pump bearings seem ok. Should I rebuild the pump with new bearings even though everything seems ok or is there somewhere else that should be checked. When I replaced the old wear ring it just pushed out without having to chisel it and the new one pushed back into place by hand, there wasnt any pounding with a hammer.
