Ok I asked this question on another site and a firestorm started.... I never received an answer just a lot of crap...
On my 97 GSX there is an oil inspection port on the 787 for the counterbalance shaft. The factory service manual states the oil level should be checked every 50 hours and if needed ad 1oz of 30wt oil to it. I checked the oil level on the 97 before we put it into the water and it was bone dry so I added 1oz to it. Now the 96 787 does not have a removable cap on this port. It has what resembles an automotive frost plug in the port. So here is my question... can that plug be removed or tapped in order to be able to ad the 30wt oil? (flame resistant suit on)

Thanks Nate for the reply...yup I can tell by the posts that this forum is a bit more friendly to newbies to the sport like myself. I may not have paid much for the two but its hard earned $ so I just want to make sure I can get a long life out of them by regular service.
Again thanks for the reply!

if only all manufacturers would wait one more year before releasing a new design on the public. there is always something where some guy in the R&D dept would have a chance to say-"you know boss this detail here is a really dumb idea. why don't we..." i geuss you could pry the freeze plug out. fill the oil. and either bang in a new same-size plug, or use the rubber bolt-in type. much like a hull drain plug. you could also tap it to a pipe thread. but then you have a buncha aluminum chips inside...

there was the answer to this you will have to look through some links on the page but i do remember reading about this.
