Another fuel sensor post

Hi,

I have a 2005 Seadoo 4tec GTX that i bought used. Shortly after i bought it, i started getting the loud beep and the 'low fuel' warning even on a full tank.

After researching, i found the code 0461 which indeed says it is a fuel sensor issue. I removed the fuel baffle and stuck an ohm meter on and the reading for a full and empty tank were right on. Also moving the arm up and down varied the resistance reading like it was supposed to. I then found the MPEM pins and measured the resistance to the MPEM and again, correct readings. So, i have concluded that the fuel sensor is ok up until them MPEM. The problem is i am not sure how to trace it after that. I believe the signal goes to the ECM, but from the wiring diagram, its not obvious what the path is. I would like to measure the resistance at the ECM pins, but not sure which ones.

Can someone walk me through the next steps of debug?

Just a couple of things i noticed:
1) The problem comes and goes. While riding, the sensor will come on and then hit a few waves and then it goes away. (like something is loose) And then will come back on.
2) I can ride a full day and it wont beep or give a sensor issue. On a different day it constantly beeps at me.
3) When the sensor does "work" and i get no error or red sensor light, the lcd reads a full tank (maximum bars) for the fuel gauge. (This is not correct as even on half a tank it shows full)
4) Everything else seems to work just fine and no other codes show up.

Any suggestions?

Thx for the help

Look for corrosion on the contacts. Any low voltage line like sensors are highly sensitive to anything but perfectly clean metal.

Thanks, I’m guessing my issue is a connection somewhere because it comes and goes every time I hit a wave. I just pulled the sending unit and the float is free and the resistance values are correct. I haven’t found any loose connections, but I’ll go through them again...
