anchor buddy does it work in heavy waves for 20 foot utopia

I do not like beaching my 20ft sea doo Utopia. I googled anchor buddy-a bungi type stretch line used his way it seems.

#1 Attach anchor buddy line between stern and actual anchor line;
#2 Drop anchor off stern 30 ft from shore;
#3 drive to shore stretching the anchor buddy
#4 on shore, twist an auger anchor into the sand
#5 tie a bow line to the auger anchor
#6 let the bungi effect of the anchor buddy pull the boat out to safety 30 feet off shore
#7 when you want to get back in just pull the boat in. NO ONE GES WET

sounds great

Has anyone tried it in rough water?

Biggest concern in heavy waves is having the stern face the waves. This is a great way to sink your boat.

With the stern facing larger waves the wave hits the WIDE LARGE FLAT surface and comes over the stern and floods the boat.

The bow is pointy for a reason.

The anchor buddy does a good job as far as anchoring is concerned. But it won't stop from sinking your boat.

Even if the boat didn't get swamped, I'm wondering if the heavy waves might not cause the anchor to get lodged pretty tight, in which case trying to work it free with an elastic like line might not be that easy. Worst case, could lose the anchor..best case, advertisement was wrong and somebody (anchor diver) WILL GET WET!.... We have a favorite picnic cove where I deploy a small mushroom anchor off the bow, with a buoy,...then back within a couple feet of shore, and walk a shore line to a tree rock. The down side is everyone gets a little wet from the knees down, but then they are all planning to get in the water anyway, not much in the way of waves except the occasional jerk blasting through the no-wake zone, so this anchor buddy might be a solution for my situation, gunna look into it.

I would have the elastic part up top and tie it into place with a bowline knot.

You would retain positive control of all parts and be able to get the anchor no matter what.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable anchoring my boat and leaving it unattended in rough water with a small rec anchor and any line. I don't think the buddy is going to do much of anything to improve the holding capability of your anchor. I would also suspect reeling in your boat using the shore line in rough water could end in disaster as well. I would think this is a flat water tool.
