I have always drooled over the RXX since it came out. Anybody have/rode one to give me an idea what the ski will doo?

I owned one for a year or two a few years back and I loved it and hated it at the same time. I now own 4tecs and an RXP and I think they are fairly similar in performance. The RXX pulled harder and handled a little better, more nimble, but was a maintenance nightmare, at least mine was. It had lots of pros and cons whereas the rxp is more middle of the road.

RXX was a 2001 model. Anyway, I am trying to determine if the SPX I have is worth building up, or selling and getting an RXX.

Cost vs. speed/handling

Spx is right now cheep, but wondering how expensive it would be to have it compare to the RXX

what year spx? I'm guessing it is a late 90s with the x4 hull and an 800 motor. Those are nice nimble boats but are completely different handling machine than the RXX which is a much larger hull. The 800 motor is a very solid motor and there a tons of mods for it, still raced frequently. But even with major mods, it probably will just keep up with an RXX or a stock RXP and it will beat you up in rough water more.

I suggest you ride an RXP and see what you think(I doubt you'll find somebody that will let you ride their RXX, evertime I did, it came back messed up). It will cost more money but you can get 04s pretty reasonable now, $4-$5k. An RXX may cost a little less, but not much and probably won't hold its value as well.

I think 05GTX was refering to the RXPX that came out in 08, most people don't know what an RXX is. I think there's one on ebay right now.

AHHHH. hey man no worries, I had to go look up what a RXP-X was. Thing is pretty sweet. $13,000+ though, ouch.

Yeah they ain't cheap we paid 13,500 for out 05 GTX SC when it was new so what can I say we are having fun with it.

I remember the day I smacked down $8000 for my 98 XPL. I thought I was crazy, but like you, I loved every dollar of that thing. Riding was a blast, wife's favorite ski.
