What do PWC use to charge battery? No Alternator.

I am not sure about the 4-strokes, because I am not up on them but imagine it is the same as the 2-strokes. They use a Magneto.

Purchased a new battery. Apparently did not get a good charge. Will start fine, but warning indicator states battery is low. After around 30 minutes of running, this warning light goes off. I assume magneto has charged battery up.
Saturday had the same issues only did not let PWC run long enough to fully charge battery. Dead on lake.
Have now got a full charge on battery.
Just trying to understand what is happening.
