Hopelessly Screwed Up pump 2001 GTX RFI
Got a friend who just bought a "fixer-upper" w/the pump removed & the engine locked up. The motor is a basket case(water injestion),...but the pump???...we have no idea as to what the hell happened to it. The impeller goods good...BUT...the wear ring is GOUGHED up( chunks missing..like it's blistered off) & it looks as if the impeller vanes are cutting into the ring itself. Also the impeller is setting 2-ish inches outside of the housing & is hopelesely froze up. How it got this way is beyond me. Can the bearings & the bearing seats slide out of the bearing housing? Because it looks as if someone tried to press the whole thing out of the housing. Does the end cone screw to a metal ring on the inside of this model of jet pump housing? if so, two of the 3 screws appear to be broke off & the "metal ring", bearings & shaft are resessed into the housing about 2 inches (the same amount that the impeller is sticking out on the other side). What the hell caused this? Manmade...or...something natural? Also how can or if this can be fixed?? thanks
