Air Trapped in Tiny Oil Lines

Just had my 787 rebuilt and I am trying to get oil into the little Tygon oil lines. I bled the oil to the oil pump, but how do you get the oil to run through the Tygon lines? There's about an inch of oil starting in each line. I tried blipping the throttle without the engine running, but the air lock is still there. Is it necessary to pressurize the oil reservoir? Any help would be appreciated.

Get the ski running leave it at idle but hold the oil buterfly WO...this way it will spin pump at idle but you holding it open at pump should toss a bunch of oil in and fill lines.

OK. Thanks. Does it hurt the engine to idle without oil? I added 22oz to the gas .. will that suffice, do you think? That's 2oz oil/gallon of gas.

Why would you be idling without oil well if theres some in lines younare just getting air out so it will be getting oil you just want a more constant flow, if you added it to the gas its ok. The motor is still getting oil, also 30-45 seconds I'd say at a clip than let it cool down

Yes. The bottom part of engine is still getting oil. I don't know much about these small tubes. Are they just for high end oil/gas mixture? That is, no oil flow at idle? These are new lines so there is no oil in them at all.

No the pump will deliver oil at all RPM's, when you open throttle it also opens oil pump to dump oil, this is why idle is needed to only spin pump and your manually doing what throttle does by opening JUST oil butterfly all the way to dump oil while keeping motor at an idle RPM.

A trick I learned from Loudoo is to take out the spark plugs then crank the motor over for about 5-10 seconds at a time. Keep doing this (but let the starter cool for 60 seconds in between cranks) This should fill the small oil lines after a few times.

Yea SeadooBuddy is right. That is the best way to prime the oil lines. But I would hold the oil pump wide open while cranking to fill the lines quicker

Fyi when your at idle position your allowing the pump to bleed the pressure back into itself. But when you move the arm its like your closing off the bleed. Same thing happens if the cable snaps. You get full oil flow.

At 1500 rpm it takes 5 seconds for oil to move from the pump to the intake with the pump wide open.

Best thing to have done is prime it with a drill before putting it all together.

Here is how I do it. Dump a cap or so down each carb throat, that is plenty of oil. The start it up and hold the oil pump wide open. That way you aren't burning your starter up and it goes wayyyy faster than with just the starter.

Well, I replaced my 3/32" lines on my 95 today, so thanks for the pointers!

Be careful when you manually open up the oil pump at idle. Its possible to detach the cable & have bigger problems if you don't notice. All the skis are different, but worth inspecting it after to make sure it is still functioning correctly with the throttle position.

Mine did not fill on their own, but as soon as I opened to valve it pumped right through.
