I noticed take the engine compartment gets quite hot ( got my boat last year) and only has a small vent and a blower vent to remove it. This means that the engine intake air will be quite hot, would it be a good idea to put in some air vents on the side to bring in more cold air? Would this make the engine run better? 15' speedster

Well if you put it on the side you may get water coming in on the hard turns.
Is is possible to put a fan one of the vents?
You can also widen the exisiting vents.
Also what is quite hot?
