I purchased aftermarket kits for my Mikuni carbs. I am new to these carbs and made the purchase before the research. But stupid me I thought I could get them to work. WRONG!! I can't believe someone is selling this complete garbage.

So I cleaned the carbs, set the pop off, and with a lot of work over tightening screws I got them to pass the leak test. Thought I was in the clear. Haha.

Boat ran terrible. I had zero low end power. One motor only would reach 4500 rpmBoth motors would bog at WOT.

Took a look in the engine compartment and found two of the carbs were leaking.

So I pulled the carbs back out at found this

We tell EVERYONE to buy ONLY OEM kits,,, In your case, you were learning, in other cases, they are being "cheap",,, The reality is, being cheap is at a minimum twice as expensive in the case of the carb kits...

Thanks for posting, hopefully others will learn from it.

I did email the company I purchased them from and showed them the same pictures and asked for a refund. I really hope they do good and refund my money.

I can get over paying a lot for something that works. I can't tolerate paying anything for something that doesn't.

Refund or not. Lessons cost money. Good ones cost lots.

Carb Kits, Starters, Wear rings (and Deleon wear rings), and solenoids. Those NEED to be OEM. Other things have a bit of flexibility,,,

Which brand of kit did you use?

I too have made the mistake of buying non mikuni parts. As I had already fitted them before finding out they were poor i'm going to try them but suspect I will be buying genuine in the end.

I paid $85 for the 4 sbt kits however genuine mikuni kits over here will cost me $300

My kits were not from SBT. I thought SBT was claiming they were selling OEM parts. After learning my lesson I'll be buy the kits that come in the genuine mikuni packaging.

I received a full refund for the after market kits. I'm happy about that. As far as my time I'll just call it a lesson learned.
