2005 Seadoo 4 Tec SC 215 Only had this boat for about 8 hours OTW but had the 130HP one before which I used for a couple hundred hours

When I pull a wakeboarder it's been emitting more exhaust then I remember seeing the fist few times I used it. No exhaust at full bore when just cruising. I also notice my boat can only get to about 42 mph, it does have a waketower so don't know if the speed is limited.

Last week I did suck up a log, I could tell b/c it was vibrating HARD when trying to plane. I put her in reverse and did some circles to the delight of my boatmates... most of what was in there cleared and boat started working normal.

Compression was recently checked good and the dealer just inspected the supercharger and said all is good.

After I pulled it out of the water today and released the drain plugs water slightly warmer the my usual shower temp started to drain at full speed from the LEFT plug while the RIGHT plug dripped slowly and the water wasn't as warm. Never seen any water really drain from the boat before so I open the engine compartment and noticed there is lots more moisture in there then I've ever seen.

Any clues to solving my problems would be greatfully appreciated

what are your rpms at WOT? that log you sucked up could of messed up the wear ring and or impeller.

Wide open throttle rpms are very close to the max part of the gauge. They do seem skewed, usually I tow wakeboarders with a full boat at 4,900 rpm but today with only 2 ppl I had it around 5550 rpm for the right speed.

I did probably screw up the impeller or ring but curious if anything else seems wrong?

THe coolant level is above max and is pretty much full in the bottle but the dealer left it that way after my recent service and said it's fine.

Last time I was on the boat I did forget to pull up the ladder for two wakeboard sessions... what could this effect besides just power while doing those pulls?

1st thing you need toget under and have a good look at the impeller and wear ring. Also have a close look for any pieces stuck in the pump as that could be the cause of your vibration.

could it be possible that you are leaking from a hose or hose clamp on the exhaust pipe. the exhaust pipe mates to the manifold on the left side of the boat looking from the back, exhaust is cooled by pulling fresh water in and through the exhaust system and back out to water, the exhaust pipe that mates to the manifold has a type of strap clamp, could that be loose. maybe this could be why you have more water out the left side plug, you could also hook up a garden hose to the back flush fitting and run the boat out of water and check for leaks.

It could but best bet is to run it in the water while still tied to the trailer. A water leak could come from anything like

carbon seal for the drive shaft
exhaust cooling system
bad dain plugs
bad rub rail seal
leak in the bailer tube

sportsterjoel, how is it going, long time no talk. I was thinking the exhaust system, because he said the water was hot draining out.

hey little ruff right now man just got home from a buddys bach party lol

You could vary well be right. I know when water sit in there when the boat running the water will get hot. mine always has hot water in it when i drain it. best bet it to look everthing over really good. Nothin worse then that sinking feeling.

seadoomike thanks for the advice! I'll take a look in a couple hours for loose connections. I did go under the boat today and noticed a few pieces of wood well stuck in the impeller. After a trip to buy some extra long pliers and mechanics mirror I fished all the debris out. Going out on the lake tmrw to see if everything is back to normal...

Hot water in bilge

I have just got back from my dealer and am trying to find out how a pin hole could appear on the lower side of the highest point of the exhaust pipe. Every time I have taken this boat into said dealer a young mech there says whatever problem is due to over heating. I told service manager that he better reign in this mech, because I have not had any overheating issues. Anybody had exhuast pipe issues with their boats. Are there any recalls due to tig weld failures in exhaust pipes. I have had several BRP products without many issues, but I have to deal with a different dealer for boat.

same problem

i had the same problem this weekend water was hot becouse it was being warmed by the engine and the water was comeing in through the ski locker door when we hit some waves instead of going through the drain hole i think the seal needs replaceing also my fuse had gone on the auto bilge so that didnt cut in to drain it the fuse is near the battery its a 3 amp fuse in line .

on my old GSX, the headpipe somehow got a hole about a third of an inch in diameter. it caused symptoms like yours. really hot water all over my engine compartment. i used some plumbers epoxy on it and it fixed it perfectly. i would hook a hose to your boat and run it while looking in the engine. see if water is shooting out anywhere and if it is, fix the leak.

Well the day this happened I managed to get a small log stuck in the impeller but in a way that the boat didn't vibrate but was slightly less powerful during our wakeboard sessions so the motor had to run harder. Thats at least what I think the problem was since when I got that log out it hasn't been dumping hot water since...

did you check your inline fuse for your bilge? it will work on the switch but your auto bilge is off a separate line ,active even when you isolate your electrics.
