Hey everyone! After 2 years of boating with friends on lake ontario around the Rochester, NY area, I would like to buy a seadoo of my own for next summer. I am a college student with limited funds, so I was wondering what the monthly payments may be for a used seadoo, and what make/year i should go with.

Thats what I figured I can afford that.. Also, I was wondering how much gas an average machine goes through compared to boats. How much do you guys usually spend on gas each outing?

Gas? geez...that really really depends on how you run them. If you are WOT 90% of the time, you'll kill your tank in a little over an hour for most PWCs. Less throttle, less consumption

this thread poses a good question i hadnt considered.

my new sea-doo has close to a 16 gal tank. what kind of time frame will i see for a days use? This is the only machine i have, and it will be carrying me, my wife and my 5 year old daughter. Because of the 215hp, i doubt i will get full throttle on any area lakes, plus i dont want to see my daughter fall off lol

if i keep the speed around 40-50 any ideas who long a full tank would last?

With the added weight it is harder to say. You should get around 4-5 mpg, and at WOT you'll go flat out for about an hour. Less throttle of course = more effeciency, and having a more powerful engine running less RPM will also get you more effeciency (215hp @ 50% max power uses less fuel than than a 110hp @ 100% max power).

40-50 constant speed I will guess about 2 hours or so, but I've never ran an RXT nor with extra passengers.

Let us know what you find :)

i was finally able to take the craft out last weekend. Being the first time on it, and being in the 'break-in' period, we didnt hit full throttle... BUT, we did hit 67 mph at one point, even if for only a second when we backed off the throttle.

We found that we got 3.7 hours when the 4 gallon alarm went off for low fuel. Most of the 3.7 hours was with 2 people, some had 3 riders, some had only 1.

We plan to fill her up and take her out this weekend. I want to get the break in period over so i can see just how fast she will go.

On saturday, when we dropped the craft in the water, the lake was a smooth as could be, but wind picked up later in the day. By sunday, we had 1-2 foot waves flowing across the lake.... I never thought... but those waves were the best thing.... I felt like Bruce Allmighty!!! I dont think i can go back out on a smooth day and still have fun =)

Great to hear Jon...sounds like you got some great speed and great fuel effeciency! Remember to vary that throttle during your break in.

If you want, take some pics and post them up in a new thread on here.

67 Mph!

67 miles per hour!....If you were taking me for a ride, I'd been beating you on the back to slow this s*% of a b#@*^ down!.........man, ya'll are brave. A boat maybe, but not a freakin jet ski.
Question: Has anyone ever fallen off a ski going that fast? And if so, did it hurt!?.............that's what I'd like to know. Falling off my feet while bare footin does all but kills me.......it really hurts, and we're only doing about 45....so let me know what it feels like to fall off a ski at 70!........

Yeah, falling off at 50+ mph can be a little rough if you tumble on the surface of the water in a bad way. But the same applies to slalom skiing or barefooting.

The big thing is making sure when you hit the water that you clear the ski. Getting hit by the boat REALLY sucks. I had the HX rotate under me during a 50mph turn when it threw me......I kissed the front label on the bow on my way into the water.:o

Intimaticy?...(probably misspelled!)

Kissed the front label!....would that be considered getting intimate with your doo?..........come on now, you can be honest!
Yeah, your right about bare footin.........just when you think you got it going on good, you loose a foot and it's like instant ..........can't say the word, but it takes a while for me to get out of the water and walk around for a while!....LOL

ahhhhhhhh memories at least of the ones that i can remember before that dreadfull day. i was on my second hour of my first day with a jet ski. so u know, i was now a pro at it, at least thats what i thought untill i decieded to hit that wake from some rich guys blond haired babe magnet floaty device. i went out of the water came down nose hard so of course into the water IT went lanyard came out i did a summer sault over the handle bars and dang those thins need like an emergency reverse cause that friggen thing just kept goen. knocked me out cold.coupl stich jobs in back of noggen and one hell of a hang over for about two years. weeeeeeeee now i just bought me own xp and no big wakes for me and i'm quite happy at 40 - 50 k/h lol ( well at least untill that time comes again) :stupid:

go with a new one... your going to want the warranty and everyhting that comes with a new one... its also nice to know that the ski you get has not been tinkered with at all... plus you will get much more for your buck now a days.

Merry christmas!
