Just got a new to me 2008 Speedster 150. Have not had a chance to get it in the water yet, so just obsessing over it in the garage until I get it out this weekend. That and reading all the great posts on here!!!
One thing that was bugging me is that pulling the rear hatch release, often does not pop the rear engine cover successfully. I have to pull up on the rear hatch, while pulling the release lever for it to go up and my arms are not long enough to do both at once!
Searched all the forums for a solution, and seems like a really common Sea-Doo problem with solutions like: "Grow longer arms", "get a paddle to wedge it up while pulling the release", and "get over it, Sea-Doo QA is run by monkeys". The only serious solution seemed to be "get custom pneumatic struts with higher pressure than the original" which would obviously do the trick forcing it up. But did not feel like going that route as after I get it up an inch, it lifts with avengeance, so struts have not gone flat.
Seemed my rear hatch had a half inch play when latched and pressing up and down on it. While resting somewhere in the middle at neutral, pulling the release and hatch not popping (or going up just a touch) up would re-grab it as soon as letting the release go.
Solution: Grabbed hatch lock pin (attached to deck lid) around its rubber neck, twisted hard, and screwed it off. Noticed two rubber spacer washers on pin. Removed one spacer, screwed it back and it now compresses the lids rubber seal fully when closing which pushes the lid up when releasing at least past the point where latch will not re-grab when letting go. Applied some loctight blue to screw since it seemed to have some prior. I also put silicon oil on the rubber deck seal, to prevent it from sticking (read that tip somewhere and may have helped a bit as well).
Result: Since fully compressed rubber seal now starts deck moving up as soon as release is pulled, most of the time it now pops-right up, or at least cracks open enough where you can nudge it up by hand without having to hold up release at same time!
Hope this helps somebody, since I could not find this tip searching!
