accelerator pump check valve?

From the accelerator pump on my doo, there is a short line (small diameter) that runs to a T and then feeds the accelerator nozzles on both carbs. Before the T there is an inline part that looks like a check valve. I was thinking about ordering a replacement for this to fix my small hesitation between low and high RPMs just after a crankup. My theory is that the check valve is letting the gas drain back down into the carbs when the engine is cut off and then that is why I have to feather the throttle upon the first transition to higher RPMS. However, I cannot find this part on the parts finder. Would it be included in one of the items listed as the hose assembly? There is one hose assembly listed as "(recharge)". Also, there is something called a "recharge jet". What exactly is that?? Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Check valve....

Yes, you are seeing a small check valve. The reason you see it on your ski and not on the part index is because it's a modification (mod). The original is built into the accelerator pump itself. If you look at the accelerator pump, you'll notice a small square connection. That connection houses the ball and spring. You'll notice that same fitting at each carb also.

The recharge line and jet is what feeds the accelerator pump fuel from your PTO carb. The jet is pretty much a needle fuel inlet with a built check valve too. It's not a jet in the sense you are thinking.

The accelerator pump cost $200 bucks to replace. Freakin high way robbery but we can't run our carbs without it.

Your problem sounds like it's related to either a gummed up check assembly at your carb or the inlet and outlet of the pump itself.

I hope that answers your question.........

Thanks Seadoosnipe! That is a pretty good and clear description. Let me get your opinion on this then. I have taken down the carbs and cleaned and replaced all the fuel lines. I did not, however take the a-pump apart and clean nor did I blow through the small fuel lines and check valve real good. I did clean the a-nozzles good. If I am hearing you right, doing what I ommitted should fix this problem?

Also, regarding the "mod", was this a manufacture mod after the original design? The reason I ask is because I bought this ski new and am the original owner. No mods have been performed on my part.

Thanks a ton!

Howdy all, newbie here from down under..

I thought i would drag up the archives instead of starting another Accelerator pump thread again. awesome forum btw, i thought it was about time i joined up.

ok gurus, here is my question. can some one please shed some light to me on the 787 accelerator pump. there is infact a check valve on the fuel outlet of the pump and also on the inlet side too. should there be a checl vavle on the inlet side? it was gunked up solid so i freed it up to find the check valve on the inlet side does not seal so theoretically it would let the pressure back through to the carb with the crook check on the inlet side. my alternative fix is to run an external brass check valve betwee the carb and inlet of pump.

if there is a mod to eliminate the pump all together ie rejet lower end, who has done it and is it worth it?
any ideas or information would be most appreciated.

cheers
