I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY 97 xp. The problem is that it starts find and runs fine but when is try to take off fast say I full throttle it it will die ,like I flooded it. But if I easy on the throttle it will pick up speed and then I can full throttle it. Any ideas what could be wrong.

your answer is in your title...Its the accelerator pump. It sounds like it isn't pumping fuel and might be plugged some place in line.Take off the carburetor plastic cover and spark arrestor look in the throat of the carb and see the small brass fitting. pull the throttle cable a the carbs and see if fuel squirts out the fitting. If not remove the carbs and clean the hose and fittings.

Rave valves...

If your engine is running well as you throttle like you do, then look at your RAVE valves to see how much carbon is built up. Clean them. Sounds like you have a RAVE sticking, or you may have a problem with your accelerator pump.

But I'm leaning to the RAVE's because if it were the accelerator pump, you shouldn't be able to even feather into full throttle.
