I get BRP exited the boat market in 2012 but the lack of parts is mind blowing. Parts that, in some cases, fit multiple years, are simply no where to be found. Most of these are not whet I would consider to be parts that wear out on the regular. Maybe this means they had low inventory to start with and people scarfed them up?

I emailed BRP and they told me "Actually, the only places to get this part at this moment would be, at online marketplaces like Amazon, eBay or Craigslist." Of course none of those places has the part(s).

This lack of parts has me asking when does one toss in the towel and sell the boat and move on to a new boat? Do others find themselves in the same situation?

Hope so. Boat has 102 hours on it and want to squeeze out as many more years as possible. The new scarabs are nice but damn expensive.

Gauge cluster, ski mirror for tower, the rubber straps for the rear stern facing seats are what I am most looking for. In my searching I see a lot of the online parts have no option to buy or say discontinued.

What boat do you have? I have a 2012 wake 210 and I have found many needed parts including instrument clusters on the 3 websites below. Leaders is the best bit if they dont have it, Vintage may but you will have to order through a dealer. If you have a touchscreen you can actually buy a brand new one from Medallion who are still manufacturing them - contrary to popular belief.

Been to all. 2010 Challenger 210 310 SE

any idea who makes the clusters we have? Would love them to sell me the lense

BikeBandit came back and said "its on backorder". I have reached out to dealers outside of the USA now and so far 100% have come back with "its discontinued".

So I have about 0% chance of finding one.....

Hey guys! All the online outlets get these parts directly from BRP for the most part and many parts are on back order right now. For oem parts please consider using our parts site: www.seadoowarehouse.com it helps support the forum!

Please let me know if anyone has any questions!

Hi Hfgreg, that’s interesting. I thought all the remaining parts were attic stock from the original production runs. Is BRP still producing new parts?

Would be nice to hear. I know that BRP is still making parts for the other boats that took on BRP engines after 2012.....

Is it part 204471539? If so Bike Bandid say they have it.

I Don’t know the manufacturer of these.
I would recommend staying away from BikeBandit. I tried buying the Seadoo emblems for the side of the boat since they said online they had them in stock. Once I placed the order, the withdrew the money then notified me a day later that the part was unavailable. It took me nearly a month and several phone calls before I got my refund. Never again!

Oh dear! By all means stay away then. I haven’t ordered with them before.

I have a 2012 Challenger 230 520. I have the same concern about parts, but mainly on the non-shared parts. What I mean about are those parts unique to the model, like the interior. There are certain cushions you can't find anymore. As far as the running gear, they use many of the same engine parts from the Seadoo PWC's. I have also found some other parts from the original suppliers to Seadoo. Seadoo doesn't make a lot of the parts on the boat, like the voltage rectifies, bilge pump, battery switch, connectors, etc. If you do enough searching on marine sites, you will find some of the stainless parts, and other electrical items.

Yeah, thats pretty accurate. Many of the boat parts are no longer available. The ones that aren't should mostly be marked as such on the site. Many parts can still be had for these boats though. Any time you have a questions shoot me a list of part numbers and I will take a look at what we can and can't get!

I think an additional question we should be asking is how long one can hold onto the boat before the value plummets - because the boat is no longer supported by the manufacturer and parts have become unavailable. Right now I could probably get in trade close to what I paid in 2017 for my 2012 SP 230 due to the pandemic market's low inventory. However, that will not be forever. Sea Doo owners have the additional issue of parts availability, finding certified mechanics who want to mess with superchargers. Even if you CAN find a part, the cost of that part may cover many payments on a new or newer boat that is still being supported.

A few months ago my shift handle snapped off in my hand. I thought I could find just the lever for the shift component. In the end I had to buy the entire shift/throttle assembly for $750. Had I not installed it myself, I would have paid another $200 in labor. There will be many more unexpected repairs like this in the future, and the cost of parts will only go up.

Where is the jump off point? Shouldn't we all be considering this with the used boat market inflating the value of our trade-ins, and the operating cost per hour of Sea-Doo boats unavoidably going up?

Your thoughts?

Just like the housing market, what goes up comes down. Interest rates climb, drops what people to afford to buy with cash, they have to finance, which is tough the older the boats, rv's, etc. get. I think we are okay for a few years more. As far as your shift handle, with the price of 3D printers coming down, you could technically create the drawings to print a new one. My company services many industrial 3D, which can print titanium, aluminum, stainless as well as high strength polymers and carbon fiber impregnated. You would be amazed what parts can be 3D printed, even an engine block. Getting off topic a little but - since the mechanical engine and propulsion parts are used on other Seadoo platforms, the hull being fiberglass so that can be fixed. I think there are plenty of resourceful people in this forum, if push comes to shove, we can keep these boats running for a long time. The price of comparable boats is crazy. I personally want to stick with Jet boats, since our lake tends to run on the shallow side in many areas, I am in only less than five feet of water at my dock in the cove. So options does that leave - Yamaha, Scarab, Chaparral/Vortex? At least the Scarab and Vortex are Rotax with closed loop cooling, but for comparable boats from all of them like my 230 / 520, you are pushing 70k plus. Just my two cents worth.

I have checked with Vintage Parts and they don't have this one. Does anyone have one? I am the second owner of the boat and it was missing when I bought it -

I'm very much wondering this about my 2001. I was docked in a public place this week and had maybe a dozen people tell me they thought the boat was cute, or otherwise ask about it. Most were shocked to hear it's 20 years old and not made anymore.

So far I've been able to doo minor work myself: a new starter, new props, a steering cable, things like that. I'm worried that anything more major might become impossible for lack of parts. Worse yet, there aren't many people around anymore that know about these boats. I'm afraid if anything fails, I'm really going to have a problem. But still having fun for now!

I found a guy on ebay that can put a new case, lens, and if you need it, the led polarizer for $300, I only needed the lens, the back case has to be replaced, so my cost was $250, he has to remove the internals no matter what, he does beautiful work, and does it in 24 hours, and ships it back by USPS priority mail. Here’s a link if all you need is the lens replaced.

Ha, I’m missing one too. You can’t find them. They fly off while towing so basically they have all returned to nature.

Haha, I lost mine once too, but fortunately saw it fly off the back and stopped in time to pick it up. Ever since then, that cushion, plus the bow filler cushions go in the truck box while towing.

As a bonus, with the center seat cushion out, I can actually see the traffic behind me too, gives a perfect viewing window in the rear view.
