About rebuilt engine

How long will a rebuilt engine last, do they last shorter than previous build? Saw an ad for an 90's xp with a rebuilt engine, can they be rebuilt again if needed?

No way to tell, too many variables.
If built to OEM spec by someone that knows what they are doing and maintained correctly then another 20 years.
If cheap parts and sloppy work then maybe only hours.
No maintenance or addressing things like carbs/fuel system then only hours.

But normally can a rebuilt be rebuilt again, say due to nothing catastrophic, just normal wear and tear
