I finally replaced my wear ring and serviced the jet pump. I cranked my boat today and I noticed water coming out of the exhaust. I am not sure if this is normal or not. At first, the water was very dark like it was burnt oil coming out with the water. I had a fair amount of white smoke as well.

1. I purchased a tach and it has two plugs coming off the back. I was only able to find one plug under my storage compartment that matched the dual plug. As for the single wire, I could not find a place to plug it in. I did notice I have two sets of wires where the hatch is. Each set of wires has a square block with inputs for a 6 plug connection. How do I connect the factory tach to the boat?

2. The last time we were on the water, it took a while before my throttle cable would respond to me moving it. Today, it seems like the forward, reverse and the throttle are all unresponsive. Any suggestions on what it might be? I am going to out now to check the cables to make sure they are actually moving. I will report back on my findings.

Thanks!

I went out and played with the throttle cable around the carb area. I noticed the arm the cable connects to was a little stiff. I finally got it to idle up only when I put it in gear. I remember I used to be able to throttle up the engine without it being in gear. When I put the boat in forward, the boat idles very high. Is this common for a boat that's sat up for a while?

Yes... it's normal for the boat to kick out some water. It sits in the water box, and really doesn't cause any probs unless it's salt water.

1) The single wire is the actual tach lead. (The 2 pin in your power) I'll look to see where it can hook to. Are you sure there isn't a single wire under the front storage bucket? There is a good chance there is a single... but the wire may be a different color.

2) Not exactly sure what's going on. Let me know is the reverse gate is moving... and if the throttle is moving. Also... when the boat thinks it's in nutral or reverse, it will only rev to 3500 rpm.

3) It sounds like your idle is high. It should be about 3000 rpm out of the water. SO... if you get an RPM jump when you put it into gear... then it's bouncing off the rev-limiter. BUT... you can get that adjusted once you get the tach hooked up.

1. I'm positive there isn't a single wire. I will take a pic of the available wires.

2. Yes, the reverse gate is working.

1) It looks like there should be a gray/green wire under the hood for the tach.

2) Once you get the tach hooked up, we can get the RPM's set for idle.

This is what I have under my storage area...
