So after setting on my spx for the first time. (in the garage) I have found that the handle bars are in a horrible position. I removed the padded surround and saw how I can somewhat adjust the position but it got me to thinking.

What are the aftermarket handle bars for. I mean handle bars are handle bars... or am I incorrect. If im incorrect what are the benefits.

Also on of the things I feel that the sxp model has going against it is the seat. I love the way the GTI etc models all have a seat which is countoured for 2 people and on some models extends out the back. Any aftermarket seats etc to modern up the looks ????

thanks

handlebars are two fold....
some aftermarket handlebars (umi) are an improvement over stock (lighter, tighter, better) I run stock steering myself but I replaced the handlebars, no personal preference, the bars themselves are just bars, but you can, if you choose to, improve the steering itself with UMI. I've ridden several ski's with UMI its a difference, just didn't suit my tastes/ride style (i'm a swamp rec rider)

others might have stronger opinions on the handlebars, i just basically took the big ugly pad off, replaced the bars, put on a finger throttle and called it a day, but I like a little bit of play in my steering, so that the dam ski won't make a hard left if nudge it a little when going 40...

seadoo makes a hump seat yes, it can be found, fits the x4 model, should fit the 97 xp, with no issues.. looks kinda like this...

here's another pic,, not quite as easy to see that its a hump..

two of these three have hump seats... the first and the 3rd... the one on the left has UMI Steering, the other two are stock steering with replacement handlebars.

its nice and i've actually been looking for one myself, but i don't wanna dump $100+ into a seat, then another $100+ into a cover, so i'll wait until I find a cheap one. one thing to keep in mind, is this ski really isn't a good ski for riding with 2 people so the hump seat won't be as practical as you'd like...

i assume a custom seat guy could make you a hump seat/cover.. thats an option i've considered, i have a very skilled custom seat guy that is only about 100 miles..., it would probably run me less than $200, i already know who to call, but i'm too cheap :) i'll just wait till my seat tears
