I pulled a 2004 Seadoo Sportster out of mothballs this past week, it had not been used in years (since 2012) due to health issues. I figured it was going to take a bit of work to put it back together so I got started on it. As it was kept inside the garage, didn't seem to be much wrong just looking at it however I figured I better go from the front to the back for safety purposes. Of course the first thing I saw was bad fuel and a locked fuel pump so I cleaned the tank and put a new fuel pump assembly in. No more blown fuses and now the starter button worked. I hit the key and it cranked up after maybe 7 attempts, I believe it was needing to get fresh fuel to the engine before taking off. It did in fact crank and run, although it was not smooth at all and I chalked that up to the spark plugs. After running it for about 15 minutes connected to a hose to ensure all the bad fuel was out of the fuel rail (fuel injection system) I shut it down and let it cool off so I could change the plugs. Replaced the plugs with new NGK's, kind of looked to give everything else a once over before cranking it again everything looked fine. 1st crank nothing. Second crank a bit of a rough idle and quit. Third crank the rpms went to max forcing me to shut it down. Looked back over everything and tried again ... same thing however now it raises the rpms to max every time it is cranked. Throttle linkage appears to be working as it is supposed to, again everything was fine until I changed plugs. I have always been able to crank this boat with a hose and have never had any issues, just wondering with it being sat up so long if something else might be damaged that I am missing? Thanks in advance
