I was wondering how much of a pain replacing the starter is? The solenoid is good. All the wire conections are good. When you push the start button the solenoid just clicks and the starter does nothing. The battery is also good. It is putting 12v out both sides of the solenoid.

I have a 97 GSX so Im not sure how much alike they are, but the starter is pretty easy to change. It looks harder than it really is. There was only two bolts that you have to remove. It may be easier if you remove the air filter housing to allow you access and mobility within the hull. So it's pretty easy to pull out. If you look around on the web, you may find a diagram for changing it.

Good luck

Repo, pretty much the same set up as mine (2000). I pulled my engine to rebuild and saw the starter is really crammed under the side of the engine. I had to tip the engine with cylinders off in the hull to get the wires off. And when putting it back in I lowered the engine in about half way into the hull and hooked wires back up and then dropped it in rest of way. If I was to replace the starter I would pull engine out with hoist and work on it from there.
