If you scroll down a bit you will see I have a 98 Speedster and have been going through this. My boat is esentially the same as yours. There are 5 ways you can go.
1. Spend the $500 to $600 for the OEM bimini from a dealer.
2. Spend $440 to buy the exact same Bimini from Axess Marine, they are the authorized seller for the OEM Bimini that is manufactured by a Canadian company called GMI.
3. JM Campers claims to sell an OEM Bimini for around $420 after shipping. I have yet to confirm it truly is the same though.
4. Buy a cheap bimini off ebay for about $150.
5. Visit a local shop and see what they can do.
I opted for an ebay el cheapo. Cost me $153 shipped to my house. That was with the extra rear support poles. I got it all mounted and it looked good. I tried to put my awesome Poppy cover on and there is no way to make it fit.
I prefer to tow the boat with the cover on it. So I am leaning towards the idea of buying the OEM version from Axess marine. I put the cheap one on last week and took the boat out over the weekend, we had a storm roll in fast. It was sooo nice having the Bimini. We basically stayed dry.
I just wish it would fit under the cover. I tried folding it forwards and backwards both. Tried the cover with and without the poles. The cheap bimini's seem to be more square looking. The OEM bimini is more rounded across the top. So I think it hugs closer to the outline of the boat. The OEM version is suppose to fit under Poppy covers.
What sucks is when I got home from the lake I forgot to put it down and was trying to get the boat close to my garage and it hit the gutter on my house and it bent 1 of the poles and broke a bracket. I can fix it for 40 bucks. I havent decided what to do yet. I may try to alter it and make it work since it is already gonna need hacked up some. Then if that doesnt work, scrap it and buy the more expensive version.
As far as the quality and stuff. The cheap one is fine. If covering the boat doesnt matter to you, that is what I would do.
