i removed the unit from the tank and made sure the float is floating and both magnets are there. It has 3 wires one is red with black stripe and 2 red ones, when checking the ohms i put the test lead in the red/black wire and checked each red wire. only one wire gave me any resistance, the other did not. i also checked the wires going into the gauge and was getting 10.6v on them. Just had the pipes welded up and thought i would fix the gauge issue while i had the extra room to work on it. Sorry just don't know where to look at next, any help is greatly appreciated.

Most likely it's the fuse on the baffle sending board, which is in the baffle. You need to cut a hole in it to get there. There was some discussion with pictures about what to do some time ago, but I can't locate it quickly, perhaps someone else knows where.

That's a good description of how to test for the problem.

I have seen a post for the fixes but most only talk about 2 wires, mine has 3 wires coming from the sending unit. I also tried wiring 3 wires together and putting in the connector to get the gauge to read full but that did not give me any reading. If i cut into the unit where exactly do you cut into it at, i know the top but by which outlet of the 4 on top?
