I took my 99 Speedster out today probably for the last time this year but we were out about an hour and we stopped in the middle of the lake for about 15 minutes and shut off the engines. I started the engines back up and gave it throttle and the starboard engine died and I couldnt get it up past idle. It will idle in the water but dies when you give it throttle. The port engine runs fine. Out of the water both engines run like normal (When they arent under load) Maybe the carbs need cleaned? Any help would be appreciated.

Carbs.......

You sound like all you need is a carb cleaning. Your model has the fuel pumps that aren't tied to the carbs........so, I think taking everything apart, starting with the fuel pump, inspecting and cleaning as you go , may net you some good results.

When given the throttle, it dies? You may try to open the low speed idle (the same amount on both carbs) just a little. If there is a piece of grit or something that got into the jet, you may just have a bit of blockage.

Yeah, it will idle fine in the water but when given throttle the rpm doesnt raise and it runs sluggish for a few seconds and dies but it will run fine out of the water. I figured it was that the carbs need cleaned. I just bought new fuel and oil filters also so maybe that'll help some too. Im done with boating this year so i plan on rebuilding both carbs sometime soon. Thanks for the help and im just glad its nothing major.
