I think my 99 Seadoo GTX limited is hydrolocked. We just got it back from having it in the shop for a week, putting in a brand new mpem that blew. It worked great for 2 days, everything ran fine. When we took it home today and flushed out the engine, it wouldn't start. We were misinformed and were told to start the water before turning on the engine, which now after researching i find is a big no no. (we're new to jetskis)

The hose wasn't on for long. We tried to start it and it turned over and sounded like it was starting but turned off as soon as the start button was let go. We tried a few more times and still nothing. After googling i guess this means we got water in the engine and it is now hydrolocked. What can we do to fix this? Is there permanent damage?

Thanks

Remove spark plugs and spinn the engine over a few seconds at a time alowing the starter to cool down in between trys to get the water out of the engine. After few minutes of doing this you shoud be able to reinstall spark plugs and start up if it does not start up repeat again. you may have to recharge your battery. You need to do this as soon as possible and I would also put it back in the water and run it for at least 10 minutes to be sure that all the water is out of the engine. The heat will help to evaporate the water. If you wait to long the inside of engine will rust.

Good answer Robin!

:agree: The only thing I might add is to pour about a teaspoon of your 2-cycle oil in there to help lubricate the bearings.....
