my gti has been in inside storage for 3 years. i put a new battery, plugs, and fuel in it. the auto-oiler was flooding the cyl. but finally settled down. i think it ran all the oil out. it never fired but had spark until it ran out of oil. i put a gallon of new oil in the oil tank but still no spark at the plugs. is there a reset button somewhere that i need to reset or any other sugestions. thanks hal.

Auto-oiler?

I have never heard of an auto oiler. You may want to explain this a little bit more. Maybe your talking about something else with a different name.

In my opinion, it sounds like you have bad seals at your rotary chamber. The rotary chamber is the worm gear driven off the crankshaft. Sits in between the connecting rods of the pistons. This chamber is flooded with oil from your oil tank. There is one large line coming from the bottom of that tank to the center of the engine on the port side, then the return (vent) line returning to the top of your tank from the starboard side, under the carb(s).

There is no "reset" for your ignition problem. When you put your lanyard on, how many beeps do you get? Check your fuses too. You'll have a 5 and 15 amp fuse guarding your mpem, check them.

Let us know what you find out.........
