so i called my local seadoo stealership and the tech says you cant set the idle that if the idle is off then you need to replace the throttle body with a new tps. horse s--t. treating me like i dont know what i'm doing, then he adviced me to just sell it and laughed. pi--ed me off so i hung up on him! sorry for the rant! so i called another stealership and the tech says spec on trailer is 15- 1700 rpm and should only drop
to 1000 rpm when in water which would be perfect. what the hell am i to believe?
i am not doubting info i get from here but not so sure if i should believe the last dealer i called.
what do you think? i think i'm going to have to find a way to fund a candoo! i hate mechanics that call themselves pro that treat you like crap!

again, i am not downing anyone here but the stealerships! this forum is filled with great guys with a heart to help others and i really appreciate that. that why i love this forum so much! thanks!

so looking at the manual the in water spec is 1400 rpm plus or minus 50. with that said the second stealer is wrong. so now i have no one to set my tps! as the only 2 stealerships local to me dont seem to know what they are doing.

did you break motor in yet ??? if not, its a waste of time, under my seat there is a factory sticker on the hull that states idle speed - 1500 plus or minus 100

i wont elaborate on this anymore than what i told you previously, mine idles out of water at like 3200 rpms, and idles real low, not sure exactly in the water, when you adjust it, you really wont turn screw that much, also, the o ring is in place on the rotary valve cover, correct ?? also you clearance on cover is within specs ?? these are 2 variables in idle speed

rotory cover was installed by ses along with a new rotory valve, so pretty sure tom checked that. i'm going to up the idle a bit and go for it hopefully this weekend. I will fine tune it at the lake. i was just trying to touch base with the stealership and contradicted what the manual says. and trying to take me for a fool. i probably shouldn't have posted this thread but was had to let off a bit of steam. apologies!
moderators, feel free to delete if you want.
it sounds as if i shouldn't have anything to worry about as long as the tps wasn't removed from the throttle body. so yes i will take you up on what advise you have given. thanks griz.

PS, the stealer says they don't have a budds that go back to the year of my ski so they cant reset.

give me a call if you want, i sent you a pm with my number, if you havent touched it yet, just count how much you turn allen screw, so if you want, you can turn it back, also, soak it down with some blaster, cause it wont turn easy at all ...

calling Minnetonka4me ...... just thought of something ....is it possible, if he sets his idle where he wants it at, then sends you his mpem and his throttle body, can you set his minimum tps into his mpem with your programmer ????
or am i reaching ....you doing keys like that, your gettin good with programmer ... possible ??? i dont know

Kevin - like I mentioned the other day I spoke with Dennis from Candoo and he mentioned that if I did not remove the TPS from my 98 RFI I would be ok. My idle is set at 1400 on the hose and remain at 1400 in the lake before the dreaded bog appears after 10-15 minutes of riding - that's for another thread. I do hope to meet Dennis at the lake next weekend where he mentioned he would take a look at my ski - sweet! How is it running on the hose?

that's what i figured that as long as it hasn't been removed then it should be ok. you say it idles at 1400 rpm on trailer and in water. strange, does it hold 1400 rpm well on the water? funny the dealer told me that is how it is. confusing for sure.
yes it runs great on the trailer, but the real test as you know is in the water. lol so we'll see
keep us posted on how your meeting with dennis goes and what he finds.

Yes, holds idle fine in the water. I ordered a fuel pump and filters yesterday and plan to install on Sat. I am convinced that the only we'll figure out these skis is from the experience from others on this forum. I've learned so much since last July. RacerXXX once told me it's a sickness. I now agree! Seldom a day has gone without visiting the site. Good luck with the 1st ride. Keep us posted.

yes and i,ve been sick for a very long time lol! i didn't know much mechanically about them till i joined this forum a year ago and the process of getting my hands dirty on my own ski, and will try to pay it forward as i go.
i will wait to set the idle until i dunk her in the water and adjust if need be.
