Hello everyone. Just took my seadoo out of long term storage and I'm in the process of replacing the port side engine (pretty sure it's seized, at the very least is water damaged).

my questions are:
1. Is there a "easy" way to remove the intake (black box circled in picture). As that would make it easier getting to the mounting bolts.

2. It looks like there are 4 engine mounting bolts (one is circled in orange in the picture). Could I remove these bolts and then tilt engine to remove the throttle cable/fuel line or should I try to remove the intake 1st?

I'm just looking for the quickest way to get the engine out of the boat and on my bench - my back is killing me.

You might have better luck in the Seadoo boat section. But someone in here should be able to help you out or point you in the right direction

Remove throttle linkages, oil lines, and 4 bolts to motor mounts and use cherry picker or overhead winch to take engine out.

Then remove air box lid to get to allen head bolts hold it to carbs.
Then you can remove 4 bolts hold intake to engine as one.

Also remove the exhaust manifold bolts on the side of engine and remove that was one w/pipe.

It's a pretty tight space, so it would be nice to get the airbox off 1st. Or I could remove the mounts and tilt the engine.

Also, isn't the hoist a bit of a overkill? How much do one of these weigh with starter and intake attached? I'm guessing no more than 150 max. It's basically like a big lawnmower engine

The black box has 6 plastic clips 2 on top , 2 on bottom (which can't be seen easily) and 1 on each end. Pull each one towards the end of the box and they will slide off (maybe not too easily) then pop the top cover off and you can see the rest to remove.
Be careful when removing the bolts on the inside that you don't drop them in the intake if the screen is off.
Memorize how you take things apart so they go back together correctly.
