Just curious as to what the top speed on a calm lake would be? I took mine out last weekend and we only could get it to about 45. Just replaced the wear rings today and didn't get to try it out. Should I gain a bit?

well you seadoo people know your stuff. I was told it would make a difference changing the wear rings. Took it out on a small lake today and it was 10-12mph faster peaking out at about 56mph compared to 40-44 before changing the wear rings.
thanks guys.

Wow! 10-12MPH difference from wear rings?? Are stock wear rings the only option? Anyone got a picture of where to find the wear rings? Under the boat? In the engine compartment?

wear ring...

Elite6....
Wear ring is around the impellor, inside the pump. There should be no more than 1mm of space between the impellor(leading edge of blade) and what looks like the inner housing of the pump, thats the ring...also no scuffs or damages to it

these were the first time they were changed and its a 98. My brother didn't use it that much but enough. There were actually pieces missing lol.. They best 100.00 I ever spent on that boat.

Is it fairly simple to replace the wear rings yourself?

yah, you have to cut the bad ring w/ sawsall, some kind of saw, but dont hit the housing itself, or, read where can "walk" flathead screwdriver around and eventually pop ur out.
It can be done w/ impellor left in housing, just less room to work, or get impellor removal tool for 25buks, and go that route.
But doin urself, save ton-a-buks, order rings from this site, and get at it...

Thanks, I'll give it a try

Can you guys estimate what is a reasonable price to have impellor oil changed on 1998 sporster twin 110 engines. Thanks

Just wondering..... do you have the stock seadoo impellers or are they aftermarket? I am changing the wear rings on my sporster 1800 and am thinking of switching back to the stock set up as far as impellers go. I too am only maxing out at around 42-43mph. It would be awesome to get an extra 10mph out of her!
