Is this the part that I need? : http://www.sbtontheweb.com/Merchant...&Category_Code=1998sdspr1800&Product_Count=13

I checked the neoprane seal, new. replaced. Ride shoe looks good n sealed. New ring, great impeller clearance. I can only think I am sucking some air through the original 10-year old thru-hull seal. Do I just need that one piece at the top or the whole assembly?
Port motor/seal/pump runs great and pushes some serious water. Starboard side, cavitates when starting, but still gets good top speed with both engines ran together.

Suggestions?

swill..

BTW....just wrapped with "yelah" about wires to battery. He mentioned theres the 2-big cables, and 3-semi big wires.
I'm ask'n you, you have same set up, because my boat, have the same thing, but, in the (+) wire loom, also have a "black" wire from it. And me, since cleaning/replacing the ring terminals, cant remember if that went to (+) or (-) side....any help?

here is an ever weirder observation... if I click the parts link at the top of the page and show that diagram for a 1998 sportster 1800, it's completely different from the Official 1998 Shop Manual. The shop manual version doesn't even show a thru-hull fitting??? WTF??

Check it out, here is the shop manual

Here is the RIVA version (parts link)

I can look at that battery thing for ya when I get home from work in a few hours... As for the neoprene seal, I know its not in the diagram, but its supposed to be there, and the port side setup has it, and runs fine. Check out my latest post with the severe deviations in the diagrams. Has anyone on this forum recently worked on a 1998 1800 with the 717's that maybe knows exactly how this is setup???

just got my boat, hopeffully have no probs w/ pump assy's. Guess it wont do harm to have installed the "seal", but for "thru hull", has to have one.
Hope my boat, looks as good as yours out in water. Darn rain/snow rite now, keep'n me from finish'n in it. BTW while yuor order'n thru-hull, order one of these too
