ok , here goes,, hope some one can shed some light on this one,,, my 98 sportster with twin engines started out this summer with ,, when applying full throttle from sitting idle in water the left engine responds awesome,, revs right up, but the right engine didnt respond as well, it started out taking about 8-10 seconds for the rpms to get where they should be , in turn taking longer to get on plane,,, i thought oh its just old gas . but as the summer went on and several tanks of fuel later it got worse, sometimes taking like 20 -30 seconds for engine to rev up past 4000 rpm and it would take the boat what seem like forever to come on plane dont get me wrong , when it would finally get ther it would go, but then last time out it just died and now that engine wont even start , had to limp, back on other engine ,, got it home ,,,still wont start,,, hope some one has some help thanks sodafixer

Hmmm. Well at your first sign of problems I would have stopped using it. That was your engine saying hey I don't like something. Hopefully it's something simple.

Check your compression and post your findings.

Did you check the common stuff like a compression check, getting fuel, do you even have spark and so on.

hey guys ,sorry was late, and i was tired . thanks for responding so fast, yes im getting plenty of fuel, and yes i have spark, and after i made initial post i later found prob, compression on one cylinder is about 60 psi . so prob rings , or hole in piston, maybe sleeve? im guessing, was gonna try and borrow bore scope, and then go from ther,im thinking whole new rebuild on top end, any thoughts would be great.... my ????? is do i have a carb issue if its a hole in piston versus, if its just a broken ring???/ again thanks for all the help

If you had a hole in piston your compression would be lower. But my guess is you have some damage caused by a lean condition. Time to pull the head and take a look. And make sure you go through the carb(s).
