Took some snapshots from the dock on memorial weekend. Notice New graphics above rub rail, new hull graphic "seadoo" decal, refinished vinyl on the armrests, and a bright shiny wax/polish job.

Also snapped a few pics of the other boats in the family. The 32 foot sailboat (the home away from home for the weekend) and the 16 ft Wellcraf Excel ski boat

That looks really sweet man. I'm digging that Speedster. What engine setup is that, twin 787's? I might need to sell mine and get one of these instead. :-)

I have already started looking for a Speedster SK like yours ever since I looked at your pics. :-) I have a regular dingy 14ft Speedster and am wondering if you have riden in both and can give me your opinion on ride differences? Originally I needed the smaller boat to fit in my garage, now I have plently of land. I wan't to stay with an older model with the 787's or the 717's I'm used to since they are so easy to work on...

Easy to work on is a relative term. Its not exactly that easy to squeeze into the engine compartments, haha. I've had to nearly hang upside down a time of two just to get the right angle.

To answer your question, yes I have been in both, and the 16.5 foot speedsters (98-04) are much better, in my opinion. They are longer, and wider. I needed a boat to hold 4 adults plus my dog, and I use it on Lake Erie, which can get mean pretty quick, without warning. This boat handles everything I've thrown at it, and it has power to spare. And it is very stable. The other ones are just too small for any "practical" use.

And, it does fit in my garage. I have a trailer with an adjustable tongue, no issues there.

If you'd like, I can post some decent pics of it with a real camera, not a cheap phone camera. These pics above dont really do it justice. I have a redone trailer, new custom binmini top with stripes on it, hydro turf, and new graphics all around. Boat really turns heads.

I am starting to get the "two foot-itis" though. I am eyeing the newer Speedster 200 model.

lol ya "easy" is a relative term. :-) My neighbors have driven by my house to see my feet sticking out of my engine compartment pointing straight up to the sky many times. I actually calculated that I spend 15mins of every hour working in the engine bay, on searching for tools and parts I dropped. :-)

All kidding aside though, I really do like working on these things. I pulled my port engine completely out of the engine comparment in 1hr the other night.

If you wouldn't mind, I would LOVE to see more pics of your boat. I'm selling my wife on the idea of buying one and I can all but guarantee she will green light me if I show her pics of your rig.

Now is your boat the SK? What is the difference between the SK and non-SK? I have seen some that seem to have a cover over the front seat area, which I assume is removable?

My last question is, what year is best for the Speedster with 787's. Nothing against the merc engine (my buddy has a Sugarsand with 175 merc and it has run flawlessly for over 10yrs) but I want the twin 787's. I believe I saw year 2000 with merc engines.

Thanks!

Shawn

The SK was only made in 99. They had twin 717's, so not quite as powerful. And yes, they have a bow cover, not a bow seat. Its made just for additional storage. They do look kinda cool though, with either the red or yellow gelocoat on the hull.

The 98 model has the twin 787's. Its the one I have, and I love it. Even though its all white in color, that doesnt really matter with the right graphics package :-) The later models, early 2000's, had the Merc. engines. I dont reccomend them, simply because they arent as reliable, and many Merc dealers, as well as Jet boat dealers, will not offer service for them. I've had larger, non-jet boats with Merc engines, and they all sucked too. The starters went bad all the time and the cylinders always filled with water.

I love my 787's. They are easy to maintain and I have not had any issues. This has actually been the most reliable boat I've experienced. And that includes brand new ones. Sure, there are minor issues that come up (i've has the exhaust duct come loose) but thats relatively easy stuff to fix, and then youre right back on the water.

If i ever need any help on engine overhaul, I'll be sure to contact you, haha.

I will post new pics tonight when I get a chance. I have tons of them. My wife loves it (and, drives it quite well too), and I'm sure yours would too!

Actually they also made the SK in 2000 also. It had a Merc 210 compared to the regular Speedster with the Merc 240.

Details on Bimini top? Where you purchased it from, do you like it? Just starting to look for one. Thanks
