I just acquired this boat and decided to pull the pumps to see how the wear rings and impellers were. I have the port pump off and removed the impeller. Looks like i have to replace the impeller and wear ring.

I'm having trouble removing the starboard. is there a hose attached from inside the boat that i have to unclamp? I can pull it about an inch but that's it. Only thing I can think is that the impeller is seized to the shaft and the inch is the shaft play in the boot. I guess I'll have to remove the clamps and pull the pump and shaft out?

Is the heavily corroded bit the seal?

Yes there is a hose with a clamp there. The clamp must have been loose on the first pump.

Your impeller can be sent off to be rebuilt. Your wear ring does not look too bad but it's a good thing to change while your in there. Your vein is chipped bad but boats almost always are. I'd run with those veins for now because you probably won't notice a loss in performance yet.

I went at it again last night and with a little more wiggle it came off.

Is the corrosion shown in the picture the double lip seal? or part of the body? It's the same under both impellers.

This pumps should just pop right off. They have the plastic pump support. Replace the wear rings. With how much gravel that impeller has been chewing on look at the plastic around the center hub. It could be split, also all that corrosion on the aluminum could also split the plastic. You want to look linearly down the hub. If it's split I would replace the pump, all you need is that plastic to cut loose from the aluminum hub and you have a disaster on your hands. File those veins so they are not as chewed up, any extra bits hanging off then will disturb the water flow and cause cavitation. Also when you reinstall the pumps get neoprene seals for them. I'll try and post some pics later tonight.

Does anyone have a picture before the double lip seal is installed? I was going to try and clean up the corrosion and install a new seal. Both of the pumps look like this. I didn't have any water in the oil and there was still oil in the cone so I guess the seals still worked?
