OK..this is frustrating.

I have had the boat out twice so far since it was winterized, and am not getting anything over 4000 RPM

Here are the details:

- New Plugs (changed before my second time out)
- New Pump Oil
- New Motor Oil
- New Gas
- Cleaned RAVE valves
- Changed oil filters

This thing ran great in the fall on my last trip out before I winterized it.

It starts up great, and idles just fine, but I have no power after 4000 RPM.

I'm guessing it could be carb related? I dont really want to mess with that, will likely pay to have it repaired.

Am I missing anything else?

Could be a bad voltage regulator.

Try disconcerting the red wire from the regulator, and take it for a ride.

What does the voltage regulator control? I recently connected an accessory by splicing into the 12 volt receptacle on the helm. Would that make a difference?

It doesn't control anything... but if it passes "AC" or the voltage goes high... the CDI and MPEM will do goofy things. One of the signs of a bad regulator is that the engine wont rev-up.

It's a simple test. Realistically... you can do it on the trailer. Also... put a meter on the battery, and start to bring up the throttle... if the voltage goes above ~14.5v... then that's the prob.

OK, maybe i should have checked before. I had about 8 inches of water in the bildge also. It was not there when the boat was launched...

I took it to the shop today.

8 inches is a pretty good volume of water in the hull. Find the source and you may solve your power issue,,,,

The Diagnoses:

1) The marina found water in the gas tank which led to dirty carbs.

I'm a little surprised that this happened. The boat ran great my final time out in the fall, and now in the spring, all 4 carbs are gummed up? Not sure how water got into the tank either.

I will have to start running the bildge pump more religiously, and maybe using some Stabilizer in the carbs/fuel

2) The water in the bildge was caused by a cracked drive shaft.

Again, I have no idea how this happened in the offseason. My only theory is that the freezing/thawing over the winter caused it, or caused it to grow large enough to cause a problem.

Anyways, i'm glad it's going to get fixed. It will probably run great all season now
