My 98 speedster has had all kinds of issues this summer.
First the r/h engine would only go up to 4500 rpms. I put new plugs in it and it did 2 good laps around the lake full rpm. then it bogged out and died
I tried to restart it only to find out my starter was shot. Pulled the starter and found a broken brush lead and a ton of carbon. So I replaced it.
I also decided to clean my carbs
So I got it all back together and started it up.
Only to find out that there was a chunk of the crank case about 4x2 inches sitting under my engine as well as a bunch of smaller chunks.
Not sure if a crankcase seal went bad or if i threw a rod. My cylinder compressions were in the 160s. Im not sure if i should pull the engine and send it in or re-build the lower end.
I have rebuilt aircraft recip. engines before and worked on bombardier aircraft my whole career, but never rebuilt or even pulled out for that matter a rotax engine.
Any advice would be great. Thanks
