Hey guys, been enjoying a nice 10 day vacation up in Big Bear, my Speedster has been running great a mile up in altitude. Oh, I had my starboard side windscreen break inside at the hinge,:ack: but 2 part epoxy and it is (so far) good to go. 10 year old plastic... So anyway I have been having a blast.
- EXCEPT -
I was idling in the east end of the lake (weedy in spots) and I had a constant alarm go off. Stopped the engines and did some inspecting. Now, owning the full manual with all the beep codes listed I know that is the overheat alarm, and nothing else is mentioned that I can find. I was thinking clog. So I:
A: Tried clearing the intakes using the grates. Result: nothing. Still beeping right after start. Now I notice it is both engines, immediately after startup. I can clear the alarm with the toggleswitch on the console to get it to shut up (man that thing is loud) and I notice that indeed the engines are NOT actually hot. Hand on the manifold while running, cool as can be. Little white in the exhaust smoke, I am getting a nice oil mix. No prob there.
B: So then I dove under the boat and did a firsthand inspection. clear. nada.
So my question: What the heck? I was a little low gas wise. Filled it up back at the Marina, checked the oil reservoir, and whatever was going on stopped. Is there a low fuel alarm that uses the same beep code as the overheat, and I was just unaware? (former owner never mentioned anything about this) Is there a sensor in the oil reservoir that may have been stuck? I can find no mention of any of this in my manual. BTW my gas gauge is (like most 98's) on the blink so I just do a visual every few hours.
Suffice to say this drove me nuts for a couple hours.
Thanks!
