I resently purchased this seadoo, so I don't know the history. It will start and rev fine out of water, but when I back it down the boat ramp 5 more feet... as soon as it hits water it seems it has a allergic reaction to water and dies out. Even if someone ride it down and works the throttle a little after it's in the water is quits within seconds. Prior to starting it out of the water and lowering it in, I ran the battery down twice trying to start it in the water. Even though it would kick over, it never ran for more than a couple seconds in the water.

carbs

Mine was doing the same thing, change plugs and spray some seafoam in all fuel ports. Or you can rebuild them which is probably the better idea but at least you narrow it down to fuel the cheapest way. or I dont know if you have injectors or carbs I just know it freed mine up enough to run ..They may be related.

I made 5 trips to the lake before I figured mine out. If that doesnt help at all, check your compression and we can go from there.

hi. runs on the trailer. with hose attached? sounds like you have a water leak and are shutting the motor off with water. take the seat off, start it, then back down the ramp while looking at the motor.

no water leak under seat.

Nope, no water leak under seat.

Water is the issue

I cleaned the carb. Carb looks good. I then got it started... it ran well. So then I hooked up the hose to the water intake to cool the engine. It doesn't like water in the engine. I can pull the rear spark plug and it will start and run on one cylinder. The water doesn't come out of the spark plug holes... could it be a blown head gasket? Does the water drain from the engine when the seadoo is pulled from the lake or can the water stay in the engine and freeze over winter???:( It will not start with both plugs in and water to the engine.

hey...have you done compression check, if not, when you do, make sure the plugs are on the ground post....yes, water can freeze in the system in such a case, that it will crack the head/cylinder..

Okay, finally was able to check the compression. 100/50 look like a rebuild. any pointers? I'm looking to pull the block and have it machined at a local shop. Where is a good place to get sleaves? Thanks!
