I picked up a used 98 Sea Doo GS with the silver 717 motor. The rotary valve and rotary valve cover were messed up (along with the rest of the engine) due to lack of oil. I purchased a new rotary valve cover, pn 420811253. The new rotary valve cover is different than what I currently have. The carb sits higher and the intake manifold on the old one has a different mounting flange and will not bolt on. I did notice the replacement part does match the one on my 97 GTS with 717 motor. I did check older and newer years to see if there was a different manifold used on this motor. All years seem to specify the part number above. Is anyone aware of a different rotary cover being used at some point? If I can identify the right year, I'm hoping I can track down the right part. I'm attaching a picture to illustrate.

is pic the new cover? or your orig one? do you have a new intake with cover? you might have gotten a dual-carb cover. it has a different mount flange for the intake. the engine side is supposed to fit all engines from 88 580 to the end of the run of 720's. different size holes where fuel-air passes the rotary valve, but i ran a 97 gts 720 rv cover on a 93 580 last year. that pic looks exactly like my white 97 gts cover. i just held it up to the screen.
