I am having trouble with my 98 GTX. It is fouling plugs every 10 minutes of runtime. After removing the plugs, they are not wet with excess oil or gas, but burnt with a lot of carbon residue. I went through 4 sets last week before finally giving up and putting it on the trailer. On the way to the dock the "Low 12V" warning showed on the display although I have a new battery and it had no problems recranking to start. When the new plugs are put in, it runns perfectly for 10 minutes, then bogs down. Any ideas????

Thanks,

Testing....

Low voltage warning? Have you tested your charging system? Take a multi meter and put the setting on at least 20 VDC and put the leads on the battery with the engine started. This will only take a second to get that reading, so if your fast enough, you dont' have to hook up to water. But if it's something your not familar with, maybe you will need the water.

If your rectifier/regulator is bad, then the electricity it takes to run your RFI is lacking. May cause you to burn richer, fouling your plugs. So, I'd check that charging system first. You should be getting about 12 VDC with the engine off and any where from 13.5 to 14 VDC with it running.

You may also have a seal leaking on your rotary chamber. It's not bad, just bad enough to mix to much oil in your combustion chamber during compression, to be to rich in oil, causing them to foul........You should be able to tell by the amount of oil your using from your tank.

Check those two things and let us know what you find out......
