98 GTX Rev limiter issue

Hi,

I am having trouble with my 98 GTX RFI. I normally achieve about 52 mph at about 7000 rpms, however this past weekend the rpms at WOT dropped to 6000 and about 42 mph. It happened in the middle of the day after about an hour of run time for the day. Any ideas what could be causing this? So far to address the issue, i've cleaned the raves and replaced the spark plugs.

How did it run after the RAVES cleaned and new plugs? It could be fuel related too.

it is probably not the rev limiter. it is probably a power issue (or lack thereof) causing the motor to not reach it's limit. compression test first.
