98 GSX Limited Starter

I tried to start my ski at the boat ramp. I sounded like the starter wasn't really turning the engine very hard. It wasn't the usual pop. After a few tries, It wouldn't turn the engine at all. I was getting power to the starter, it was spinning, but it sounded like it wasn't engaging the engine. I had my starter rebuilt yesterday. I installed it in the ski. Tried to start the ski, and it did the same thing. It sounds like the starter is spinning, but not engaging. (A high ptched spinning noise) I did all this on a good battery with a full charge. Any ideas?

It sounds like the starter isn't engaging properly... Make sure it is installed correctly and if so it might need to be pulled out and looked at again. Something is not right and the starter is the only weak link...

You could bench test it too to see what it does when you put 12 volts into it. It might have been rebuilt incorectly...
