How many rpm's should i turn at wot on a 98 GSX limited & what does the high speed screw adjust

thanks David N

Hey David. WOT on the water should be around 6500. The high speed adjustment screw is set to zero and should not be messed with.
Low speed set at 2 turns +/- 1/4 turn
Idle out of water 3000
Idle in water 1500.

If your not getting a full rev it could be a fuel problem or something binding the jet pump.

I thaught I had a problem, I'm running about 6550, I haven't had this ski in the water but twice, I'm used to my Polaris running about 7200, (701 engine)

Thanks David N

Wot.....

Wide open throttle on the carb 947cc engine is about 7200 rpm, which is when it's on the rev limiter +/- 50.

I was told I have a 951 engine, I baught it used, at first it had no power and would turn but 5000 rpm, had the carbs rebuilt and replaced the head pipe, it was cracked at the manifold, ski has plenty of power but still won't turn but 6500 rpm, what can I check that would cause my problem, comp. is 135 on both cylinders, drilled holes in rave covers to make sure raves are moving and they are, pulled raves to check for carbon and the're clean, I'm a diesel mechanic for a living and do car work in my garage, I know very little about how these little engines work

Thanks

I have a 2002 GTX (947cc engine as well) that turns around 6650 rpms in the water and I hit about 56mph at the top end.

I have never seen it go to 7200rpm yet. There are 56 hrs on the engine and compression is about 145 each cyclinder. Carbs have been rebuilt and new fuel lines installed.

If someone can share how to get more rpms in the water that would be awesome.
