I had a similar issue with a 1997 GTX, one way to go is to replace the gauge but they run a few hundred even used (depending on the exact gauge). I went the replacement route only to find that the power wire going to the unit had gone bad. Pull the bottom of the hood off and look at the wires to make sure they are all in good working condition. I would then do a resistance test across the power wire and ground wire for the gauge, if there is no resistance then you have a bad wire in the loop.
If the wiring looks good and you are pretty sure the gauge is shot, I would disconnect the plug that goes to the display, pull the power and ground wires out of the connector and hook them to a spare 12v battery. Only do the 12v test if you believe the gauge is already shot because I have heard Seadoos can be tempermental with battery voltage. I think the voltage concern is only for jumping the ski but not 100% sure, so better safe then sorry.
If the gauge lights up then it is good and you problem is else where, if it doesn't then your gauge probably needs replaced. Good luck.
