Hi All I Am A Newbie 2 This Site As Of Today But I Love The Site I Just Bought A 97 Xp On Fri The Motor Was Somewhat Dissiambled And It Looks Like The Oil Injection Has Been Bypassed And The Rotary Valve Is Missin Now My ?'s Are If The Oil Injection Was Bypassed Is It Ok To Keep It That Way And It So What Fuel To Oil Ratio Should I Runand Also If It Was Bypassed Does The Rotary Valve Need To Be There? And If Yes Is There A Way I Could Make A Homeade Degree Wheel To Set The Timming? Any And All Help Will Be Greatly Appreciated

rotary valve has to be there unless you do a reed valve conversion-which nobody does. the oil pump has nothing to do with that. you can use your flywheel as a degree wheel. 77 teeth. each tooth is 4.65 degrees. close enough. counting the high spots on the teeth and valleys between, gives you about 2.25 degrees each to work with. i can give you more details on timing this way later, but you need a rotary valve shaft and valve before you go any farther. no. first crank motor on starter and see how it sounds and do a compression test. you can get an idea if you have a possibly salvagable motor before you spend any money on parts for it.
