97 xp rebuilt now has some issues

Ok Just got my 97 xp running again rebuilt the motor crank pistons counterbalencer etc... Also rebuilt the carbs i put the hi and low speed setting to where they where last year before the crank blew. when i fired it up out of the water ran great put it in the water it runs great except it does not have full power mabey tops put around 35?? feels like no power band then i hit a wave and bam it takes off plenty of power if i let the throttle off below half does the same thing wont go over 35 unless i hit a wave or play with the ski a little to get the pump to grab a little air. This seems like a carb issue to me. Second problem is rave valves are leaking oil i dident replace the beolows but they arent leaking there they are leaking from the houseing gasket havent taken that apart yet but why would those be leaking new seals all surfaces where clean and flat just seems odd
 
hey...heres the specs for your ski..1997 XP 787 270500333 270500329 BN-40I (SB) MAIN-(MAG - 142.5 PTO - 147.5) PILOT-65 1.5 28 - 48 LOW- 1-3/4 HIGH- 0 ACCEL PUMP ON PTO CARB .
had same issue with my boat, pull the choke real quick, and walah..off she went. Conclussion, was that, the pop-off was outta whack...yah ,pull the raves/geotines, clean them up, install new gasket, and also, your RV timing set at 147*opening?
 
my i speed jets are all the way in low speed are at 1 1/4 just to see ill put them another half turn out... rv is right i checked it again to be shure. pop off in the carbs is what it was before the rebuild only diffrence now is it's a fresh motor bored .40 over. All fuel lines are new fresh gas+plugs. Gona run it tommorow see if pulling the choke works rave valves where just loose put some locktight must have vibrated loose? any ideas if i set those carbs to stock and it still does this???
 
If you bored out the engine to .40 over you will have to change the carb settings. It is a bigger engine now with the bore job, it needs more fuel to run properly.

Ok then what size jets do i need and where to get them??? it's bored .40 over has a impeller tuned pipe and an R&D intake. Dont know whab brand pipe it is it's purple powder coated and the pitch of the impeller is unknow it came like this from the po I could ask him and find out. Why does my ski not have a water flow regulator like all other doo's of this vintage mine has a t valve with small orifices that run to the pipe and silencer????
