I have a 97 xp which I have changed all fuel hoses, carb. filters, starter.
After I bought it the ski run 45 mhp. but i had problems starting it. Clean carbs (very dirty) and changed filters.
Checked low speed needles and they had 1 1/2 turns so I turn them to 1 turn (like manual says)
High speed needle was 1 1/4 turn, now adjusted to 0 turn.
Now the ski does not go over 30 mhp. and it takes a while to reach 30.
I made some small adjustments to the low speed needle, but no change.
The spark plug has a very light brown color.
Any suggestions pleaseee...
Thank you

You said you cleaned the carbs. When's the last time they've been rebuilt? May be time for a rebuild.

double check

might wanna rip thru carb/s again, and check for these jets, settings, n/s..etc
Wonder'n why the settings were, where they were...

This is what calls out for your ski...
MAIN(jet)-(MAG - 142.5 PTO - 147.5) PILOT(jet)-65 1.5n/s 28psi - 48psi LOW(lsa)- 1-3/4 HIGH(hsa)- 0

Thanks you for your replies.
carbs were not rebuild. I change gaskets and filter. Same diaphragm, etc.
I suppose I will have to rebuild them. It really run smoth but with no power and when it was out of the water revs high.
Thank you for your help

Im not a mechanic but could it be that the previous owner set the low/high speed needles out as a way to adjust performance for the poor carbs?? I think rebuild on carbs is your best answer:cheers:
