97 XP issues - VTS, oil in bilge, rattling

Hi all,
I’ve read stuff on these issues but haven’t found definitive answers.
The first one is rattling. This is apparently normal when the ski is on the trailer. I should expect some rattling when the impeller isn’t loaded. It especially lets out a pretty good little rattle right when I shut it down. Is that absolutely normal?
Second issue is oil in the bilge. This appears to be two cycle oil, but I’m not absolutely sure. Is there any way that the jet pump can leak oil into the bilge? I’ve cleaned it and it comes back, and judging by the amount, it seems too much to be related to the pump anyway.
Last problem is a stuck trim. I think this is my biggest issue. I can hear it clicking at the trim motor so I know there is power there. I think the mechanism is just hung up. Is there a simple way to free it up if it’s stuck? Is it worth to assembling to try to diagnose the problem, or should I just replace it? Is the clicking sound verification that the module is receiving adequate power? This ski has been operated exclusively in freshwater. There is virtually no corrosion on the VTS system components.
Thanks for any insights.
Keith

The jet pump will rattle wile not in the water completely normal. The 2cycle oil in the hule is probly from ether from the oil injection lines geting old and cracking it the gromit on the bottom of the oil tank. You Need to find it tho. Because if it’s the lines then you could starve your motor from oil and than your looking a new motor. The motor sound like it locked up jsut take the cover off then disconnect the wires to the motor it’s jsut a power and ground. Our power to one and ground to the other and see if the motor moves.

Thanks Stevie, I will see if I can track down the leak. I’ve been watching videos on the VTS, and I had come to similar conclusion. Looks easy enough to remove motor.

I ran a quick check of the motor. Don’t know why I didn’t try this first. If you apply 12 volts to the motor, it runs fine both directions, no hangups or sticking. When hooked up to the system, I only get clicking when I operate the switch. That seems to indicate a relay issue? I’m hunting that down now. Any guidance appreciated.

I see I’m entering the 451m fix matrix. There seem to be a bunch of videos about this out there. Does anyone have a favorite that makes the most sense to them? Most of them seem a little confusing to me, and they don’t go step-by-step very well. I’m sure I can eventually figure it out but Appreciate being aimed at instructions that will help reduce my errors the best. I will do some more searching on the site and see if there are pointers to good videos.

Sound like the module for the vts motor is craped out. Pretty common problem on with vts. Today we wrench has a great video of changing it out with a different module that is a lot cheaper than an oem Seadoo one witch you can only find new.

Well now that I say there is a video from them I can’t find it now so I really don’t know
I've found one or two that I'm going to use for reference. I've already ordered and received the 451m relay. My remaining questions have to do with whether or not this hack will defeat the limit stops and the guage operation. Seems like the guage might still work okay, but I'm hearing that the limit switches might be bypassed. Is there a way to know this for sure?

Your guess is as good as mine I have never done it before. So I don’t know what will happen
