97 SPX vs. 95 Kawasaki 750SS Xi, what is wrong with my Seadoo?

I have a 97 SPX that I ran "head to head" against our 1995 Kawasaki 750SS Xi this past weekend. Everything I've read and been told says that this particular Seadoo should run circles around our Kawasaki. Side by side the seadoo will pull away on the top end. Off the line the Kawasaki smokes the seadoo by a healthy margin. The seadoo doesn't bog down, the motor sounds normal and the top end seems great. The carbs look very clean and I recently disassembled and cleaned the rave valves. If it was a wear ring, wouldn't it affect the top end? The kawasaki also seems to turn and cut far tighter than the seadoo but I wonder if the seadoo having a low thrust issue at lower rpm's would be the cause?

I really hate to say this, but have you checked the throttle cable, and the carbs together?

You would not believe the number of BAD ADJUSTMENTS I used to find on motorcycles, at the races.

Just see to it that it is getting full throttle. It might not be!

And, pull the plugs, to see if BOTH cylinders are pulling the same temps.

Plugs have always looked good but that's an interesting thought about the throttle cable. I'll have to check that. Top end seems so good that I would think that it's okay.
