Last weekend I took out the spx and it was running 100% until I did a few 360's and was gagging the throttle with my big 215lbs ass. All of a sudden the power dropped in half. I pulled her up to the shore and noticed it was full of water so I drained it and kept the seat off and started her up and gave it a little gas and noticed that where the motor and rear drive shaft bolt up together (with that black plate that mounts to the hull) that water was dumping into the hull, but only under throttle. It was also making a louder rattle then it typically does. I figured that the two wing nuts holding it together were loose but they were as tight as they can get. Is there a gasket between the rear drive shaft and this black mounting plate that could be gone? What procedures should I take to figure out the problem and what is the problem more than likely?

It seems to be the drive shaft coupling at the exit of the haul. I can't build enough pressure with the water hose to get the problem going but the only thing I can think of is something is wrong with the coupling. Is there a common problem with a certain part for this?

If you go to the "parts" link at the top of the page and follow it to the propulsion area it will show you a break down of the parts there and whats needed to be replaced.

Keep us posted.

Found the problem(S). First problem I noticed as the rear motor mount is bad. As I gave the ski throttle, it was flexing the drive shaft. Then I noticed the exhause pipe had broken and so I welded it back up. Lucky for me the local ski shop had a motor mount in house and I was able to get her fixed back to 100% in about 2 hours. Thanks

It is hard to diagnose over the computer without seeing everything. I'm glad you got it repaired... Now go have some fun.
